after their first appearance as talented remixer on marco brunos polyhedral ep we thought it was time for a full ep by the frech duo unspent. crossing the borders between techno, house and euphoric chicago grooves these four tracks will definitely find their way to dancefloors all over the world. and to make an awesome record even better we invited no other than the current master of chords and vocal stabs himself chambray to refine the track la verite. and what a great job he did to celebrate the 10th vinyl issue on abstract animal.

in 1972 francois de roubaix and bernard maitre composed together the music of a tv series for children presented by puppets, called the onix. the musical oddity here released by weme records is a part of this ost. this piece of music demonstrates once again that francois de roubaix was in touch with all kinds of music of his time, including contemporary music. in this experimental track we can feel the influences of the composer pierre henry, an other explorer of unknown sounds. on the b side jodey kendrick makes his own interpretation of this music with current tech and sounds while keeping the atmosphere and fantasy of the original sound. attention non music !

in the space of two short years shlømo has quickly established himself alongside the likes of marcelus, bambounou, francois x and the antinote records crew as a key figure in paris� current techno generation. having established his own taapion records label in 2013 and built a roster around a core of local producers including roman poncet, pvnv and antigone, in addition to enlisting stephen brown, conforce and sterac as remixers for the label�s releases so far. for its fifth release, bright sounds - run by fellow parisian kennedy smith - revisits last year�s rechaïm ep (bsrx003), with a trio of remixers offering their own takes on shlømo�s established deep and expansive sound. first up is the aforementioned 50 weapons artist bambounou, who offers a dynamic groove-based version of the title track that bounces along an elastic kick drum with cut-up fragments of the original�s atmospheric pads providing further impetus. label owner kennedy smith takes on theory is the worst by bringing its dub textures to the for while filling the track�s empty spaces with intricate drum patterns. finally, italian techno pioneer donato dozzy turns grounded queen into a classic dozzy slow-burning techno trip, with his trademark layered sound complimenting the track�s subtle rhythmic backbone.

spanish dj & producer, eduardo de la calle, has continued to explore the outer limits of the electronic palette since his cadenza records debut back in 2013, clocking up stellar releases for the likes of mule musiq, hivern discs, be as one and nonplus over the last couple of years. eduardo returns to cadenza in february with the �anima animus� single, coupling two tracks of refined techno for your listening pleasure. taking inspiration from the psychologist/philosopher carl jung�s concept of anima and animus (and do take the time to explore this), eduardo marries arpeggiated synths and melodic chords with a soft kick and tantalizing hats, producing a slick piece of reflective techno that�s alive with melody and groove. on �north pole�, we get more of the signature �de la calle� sound, subaquatic bass and searing, melancholic strings play out over a steady mechanical beat, nodding its head not only to the detroit masters but also to the european new wave sounds that influenced the motor city artists in the first instance. another assured single release from eduardo that will further solidify his place in the current electronic music landscape.

number three in the four part schleiben series from emotional response arrives with dont dj and tropical hi-fi at the controls. the former is the current creative endeavour of florian meyer, founder of the diskant label and one of the more experimental and academic producers to surface from dusseldorf in recent times. he also forms one third of the durian brothers. meyers kosmose is a 20 minute piece which explores the link between polyrhythmic percussion and brooding electronics understandably, its ripe with introspective qualities. offering some contrast, northern australian producer tropical hi-fi turns in oceanic mythology, a meandering journey through found sounds, psychedelia, folk music and more which sounds like listening to sued b-sides whilst tripped out on acid.

lockjaw makes his debut on invisible with this deep roller called *obsidian*, subtension returns to invisible with *midnight flush*. current value also debutes on invisible with the heavy *cotton punch*. survey returns to invisible with *the hunter*. quality.

italian born producer distant memories with a four track ep via london based label, wunderkammer recordings. the ep starts with degrado (a1) that belongs to a segment of works named originally �untono� because of the minimum employment of sound elements in the composition. few and simple sonorities to describe the disapproval on the current conditions of things. compulsive (a2) is a track with a more deep feeling that proceeds untill the end around a sharp kick and spectral and obscure sounds. it is crystal clear that this tune represents a compulsive behavior. while mentale (b1) has a good speed with a deep ambience. is a mental but natural progression of sounds that evolves maintaining an incessant and hypnotic journey with a classic refrain that characterized late �90 trance records. a never-ending cycle minimalism aesthetics of the whole ep.

concept record alert! fairlights by fort romeau is a tribute to the - technically minded readers might raise an eyebrow - australian computer musical instrument that people like peter gabriel, herbie hancock or kate bush fell in love with during the late 1970s/early 1980s. anyways, if fort romeaus current album is like painting with oil, fairlights is like drawing with permanent marker- to quote the man himself. all based on the word saku, you will experience an epic journey evolving around heart-breaking dance-floor romanticism, jaw-breaking beat exercises, life-affirming ambient digressions, and a general feeling of spring fever.

back at it again, taking the true essence of the �jacking� sound of chicago house and putting it�s own stamp on it is what obsolete music technology has done with their new 12&#8243,, entitled, �volatile.� warbling, wobbling, distorting, sinisterly acidic basslines abound is the best way to describe this release! for dance floors only! you have been warned! �volatile� starts off with some 707 drums intro and then fading in, is this tripped out, bubbling bass sound that sends you off a cliff! just when you think that�s all to the track, dark, melancholic pads comes in for added atmos-fear! rounding out the a-side is �killin,� with it�s 2 acid style basslines, one sounding at a high octave and the other at a lower octave. riffs playing separately sounding great, but when played together, there is something slightly, mentally off. on the b-side, �broken siren� is high energy! 808 tom drums bringing the funky low end while a short, electronic piano lick drenched in warm, fuzzy, flange effect. setting it off is a decayed sine wave, mimicking an actual alarm sound. lastly, �electric current� best describe this distorted acid bassline and its tweaking filter and resonance controls over jacking 808 drums

delsins c-series, that has so far offered up excellently deep house from son.sine and raw sounds from gunnar haslam, now welcomes sven weisemann. known for his deep, atmospheric and cuddly house and dub, he draws on the heritage of detroit and chicago at the same time as imbuing tracks with his own sense of smoky, jazz infused soul. fall of icarus contains it all, heavenly pads accompanied by rasping basslines, blissful ambient chords, buried deep drum lines and beatless dub excursions. a slowly churning current drives things along as you are left suspended in the midst of it all and this one closes out another superlative ep from both delsin and weisemann.
